Merrimac Memorial Regatta

ENTRIES: Fee: $10. Entry due to race committee no later than the start of the Skipper's meeting. Applicants will use the Portsmouth Boat Club Merrimac Memorial Race Entry form available on the website. Entry Fee includes 2 lunch tickets.

COURSE: Western Branch of the Elizabeth River to designated course markers, begin and end at designated Start/Finish Line off Portsmouth City Park. Courses to be designated at Skippers meeting.

STARTING TIMES & CLASSES: Skippers meeting to be held at approximately 9:00AM and racing to begin at 10:00AM. Eligible classes include all Portsmouth rated boats 22 feet and smaller. Classes will be assigned by the Race Committee and shall not be subject to challenge. Number of classes will be decided subject to number of entries. Courtesy ratings assigned by the Race Committee shall NOT be subject to challenge.

SANCTION: Portsmouth Boat Club shall conduct, supervise and manage the regatta and related activities.

PROTEST: Due in writing within one (1) hour of last entrant in class crossing the finish line.

POST-RACE: During and following the races, crews and guests are invited to gather at the adjacent picnic area where holiday fare of Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and soft drinks will be available. A donation of $5.00 per person is requested. Racers and guests are reminded of Portsmouth's rules against alcoholic beverages in the park.

AWARDS: At the end of all racing, awards will be presented at a ceremony in the picnic area.

OTHER: The Merrimac Memorial Regatta is held to promote friendly and honorable small boat racing. The event shall be governed by the current International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) as adopted by the United States Sailing Association.
