2006 Merrimac Memorial Regatta
May 27, 2006
1. Rules
1.1. The Regatta is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing
2. Eligibility and Entry
2.1. The Regatta is open to monohulls and multihulls twenty-two feet(LOA) and under
2.2. Eligible boats may enter by sending a completed entry form to organizers no
later than May 20, 2006.
2.3. Classes having four or more entries will get a One-Design start
2.4. Open Fleets will receive Portsmouth Yardstick ratings, assigned by the Race Committee and will not be subject to challenge
3. Fees
3.1. The entry fee is $10, and may be paid in advance, or at registration prior to the skipper's meeting
4. Schedule
4.1. 0800 - Registration/Coffee and Bagels
4.2. 0900 - Mandatory Skipper's Meeting
4.3. 1000 - Warning for first fleet start
4.4. Lunch will be onshore at Race Committee discretion
4.5. After Race Party at PBC at approximately 1930
5. Sailing Instructions
5.1. Sailing Instructions will be available at http://www.merrimacregatta.org by May 22, 2006, and any changes will be announced at the Skipper's Meeting
6. Venue
6.1. Racing will be held on the Western Branch of the Elizabeth River at Portsmouth City Park, Portsmouth Virginia
7. Courses
7.1. Courses shall consist of windward leeward laps and/or triangle laps, and will be announced at the Skipper's Meeting
8. Penalty System
8.1. Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe are required
9. Prizes
9.1. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, and Third place in all fleets
9.2. Awards will be presented onshore ASAP after Race Committee arrival
