Notice of Race:
Classes: Jet 14, Albacore, Laser, Laser Radial and International Canoe

1. Rules:
These regattas are governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) for 2005-2008, the prescriptions of the US Sailing Association, and the WRSC General Sailing Instructions and any applicable class rules.
Any change to this NOR or General Sailing Instructions will be posted prior to 9:30 am the day of the race.

2. Entry Fee:
$40 Regatta Fee: includes coffee/continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, refreshments after sailing each day, and the awards.
A $5 fee will be charged for non-US Sailing Members

3. Schedule:
Registration will begin at 0800 on Saturday
A skippers meeting will be held at 0930
The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 1100.
Subsequent races will be held after the end of the previous race.
The total number of races is subject to the discretion of the race committee, the norm is three races on Saturday and two races on Sunday.
No warning signal will be made after 3 pm on Sunday
3 Start:
Starts will be conducted using Rule 26 (5 minute system)
Boats will not start later than four (4) minutes after their starting signal.
A minimum of three boats from the same class are required for a start.
For the first race each day the classes will start in the following order:
-Jet 14
-International Canoe
-Albacore
-Laser
-Laser Radial


4. Course:
Courses will be posted on the Starboard side of the committee boat in accordance with
the Sailing instructions.
Racing area is anticipated to be on the WRSC inside course, between Rhode River and
the Chesapeake Bay.

5 Scoring:
The Low-Point Scoring System, RRS A2 will apply, modified so that each boat's series
score will be the total of her race scores with her worst score discarded if 6 or more races
have been completed.
Results will be posted on the Club bulletin board and the Club webpage
www.westriversc.org

6. Safety:
All boats shall carry equipment in compliance with Coast Guard safety regulations. In
additional all boats should carry a dedicated tow line of at least 30 ft in length and 1/4"
diameter.

7 Awards: Distributed in ceremony following end of racing on Sunday.
This Memorial Regatta honors Dave Irey, a long time Jet 14 sailor, past Commodore of WRSC and past President of the Jet 14 Class. The Dave Irey Memorial Trophey will be
presented to the highest placing finisher in the Jet-14 Class.
Trophies will be awarded based on the average number of boats starting for the regatta
for each class.
