NOTICE OF RACE
The Potomac River Sailing Association
Spring Regatta, May 24 and 25, 2008

The races will be governed by the 'rules' as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
All class legal boats in one-design classes of 20 feet or under are invited to participate. Classes with 5 or more boats will be started separately. Classes with 4 or fewer boats may be combined with another class.

Larger dinghies sail on the upper course both Saturday and Sunday. Penguins, El Toros, Lasers, and Bytes will sail on the lower course on Saturday only.

The race committee will determine the number of races each day. On the upper course, it intends to run a total of six races with each race being between 45 minutes and an hour.

One race constitutes a regatta. If there are six or more races one throw-out will be used in the scoring. Otherwise, all will count.

There is a party Saturday after racing. PRSA will supply beer, sodas, burgers, and dogs. Local captains, please bring a salad (last name starts with A-I), hors d'oeuvres (J-P) or dessert (Q-Z) to share.

Trophies will be award to each member of the winning crews with depth bases on class participation in the previous year's regatta: 1 deep for 1-4, 2 for 5-8, 3 for 9-12, and 4 for 13 or more.

Sailors on the upper course will also compete for two perpetual trophies: 1) The Catherine Hearst Women's Trophy for the woman skipper beating the most boats in her class and 2) The Leonard Penso Senior's Trophy for the skipper over 50 years of age beating the most boats in his or her class.
