NOTICE OF RACE
2009 Laser Masters Atlantic Coast Championship
Sunday, October 4th, 2009
The Rock Hall Yacht Club, on the Chesapeake's picturesque Eastern Shore, will host the 2009 Atlantic Coast
Laser Masters Regatta on Sunday, October 4th. The Rock Hall YC it is a great place to sail with plenty of open
water on the Chester River, relatively limited motorboat chop, beach launching and plenty of grass on which to
park, rig and camp. The RHYC appreciates your attendance at our regatta.
1. RULES
1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) the prescriptions of US Sailing and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) rules, except as any of these rules are changed by the Sailing Instructions or any appendices to the Sailing Instructions.
1.2. Notices: changes to the sailing instructions will be discussed at the Skippers meeting and posted on the official bulletin board in the clubhouse.
1.3. Advertising will be restricted to Category A.
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1. All Laser Masters sailors 35 years or older as of the day of the regatta are welcome to register and race.
2.2. All boats must conform to Laser Class Association Rules.
2.3. Fleets will be divided as follows: 35-44 Apprentice, 45-54 Master, 55-64 Grand Master & 65 and older Great Grand Master.
2.4. All competitors must be members of the International Laser Class Association
3. FORMAT
3.1. Back to back races with up to a five race total.
4. RISK
4.1. All competitors are ultimately responsible for the inherent risks associated with sailboat racing. It is the competitor's decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue any race. Each competitor will accept full responsibility for all his/her actions during any activity related to the event. This includes on-shore activities before, during, and after the regatta.
5. REGISTRATION
5.1. Eligible participants may register for the Regatta by going to the RHYC Official website at www.rockhallyachtclub.org and following the link to the registration system. There will be on site registration Sunday 10/4 0800 until 0900.
6. FEES
6.1. The entry fee is $25 per boat. Entries received on or after 10/2/2009 will be charged a $10 late fee.
6.2. All facilities of RHYC shall be available to competitors at no additional charge/fee. There will be a $10 charge for electrical hookup for RV campers, payable at the registration desk or to the RHYC Manager.
6.3. The full service RHYC Restaurant and Bar will be available to all competitors and their families.
7. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Rock Hall Yacht Club
Sunday 10/4
0800 -0900: Registration/Check-in.
0930: Competitors Meeting.
1100: First warning signal, races to follow.
No race will start after 1500 on Sunday
Awards as soon as possible following racing
8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
8.1. The sailing instructions will be available at the on-site registration desk and at the Competitors
Meeting.
9. SCORING
9.1. The Low Point Scoring System as described in the RRS will be used to score the regatta except as modified below
9.2. NA Master handicap system will apply. All awards will be determined by each competitor's overall finish after handicap points have been applied
9.3. A minimum of one race must be completed to constitute a regatta.
9.4. There will be no "throw-out" race.
10. AWARDS
10.1.Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall, for 1st in each age group, and for 1st female.
10.2.The overall winner will be the 2009 Laser Masters Atlantic Coast Champion.
11. FACILITIES & LODGING
11.1.Beach launching, dock with bulkhead and plenty of room to park and spread out (no overhead power lines), full service clubhouse with a pool, bar and meals, restrooms and showers open 24/7.
11.2.Camping is available and welcome at the club but please check with a club representative for instructions on where to camp or park your RV.
