The Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association (CBYRA) and Annapolis YC, Eastport YC, and Severn Sailing Association are co-organizing authorities for this regatta. The Eastport YC is the Host Club. Race management will be provided by the forementioned yacht clubs.
1. Rules:
This regatta will be governed by the 'rules' as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS), (except as any of these is altered by the Sailing Instructions). In the event of a conflict between the Notice of Race and the
Sailing Instructions the Sailing Instructions will govern. This changes (RRS 63.7) In accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 Advertising Code, advertising categories will be Category A unless specified by the rules of each class.
2. Eligibility:
2.1 The regatta is open to the following classes: Vanguard 15, Lasers, Lightning's, Jet 14s, Snipes, 505s, El Toro's, Thistles, and Comets
2.2 Five boats will constitute an official class. The Organizing Authority reserves the right to add additional classes of non-keelboat mono-hull boats under 22 feet. To qualify a class must have a minimum of 5 entries. Due to the
number of classes anticipated, entrants should be aware that there is a possibility that certain classes may be started together but still scored separately.
2.3 To rank as an official class, five or more boats must be entered by 6/28/2005.
3. Entries:
3.1 Eligible boats may enter by completing the form found at CBYRA.org and sending it, together with the required fee, to CBYRA 612 Third Street, Annapolis, MD 21403. All mailed entries must be received by 6/28/05.
3.2 Late entries for official classes will be accepted up to and including 7/5/05 with a late fee of $5.00, by bringing the entry to the CBYRA offices at the above address until 7/4/05 or at the registration table prior to sailing.
1-person boat - $30
2-person boat - $35
3-person boat - $40
Late Fee - $5
3.3. US Sailing Membership
All US Sailing members will receive a $5.00 discount off registration fees.
4. Registration and Sign In:
4.1 Registration will be open from 1500 to 1700 pm on 7/5/05. Registration will take place on the lower deck of the Eastport YC. Eligible yachts may register at that time with inclusion of the late fee.
4.2 All participants must check in at the registration table to sign a waiver and receive a wristband and tickets for social activities.
4.3 Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. They also be available on the web at CBYRA.org.
5. Courses:
Drop-mark courses will be sailed on the Severn River.
6. Schedule of Races:
Tuesday 07/05 1730: First Warning, subsequent races to follow Wednesday 07/06 1730: First Warning, subsequent races to follow Race Committees will run as many races as possible given conditions.
7. Measurement/Weigh-in
No measurement or crew weigh in will be required
8. Scoring:
8.1 The Low Point Scoring System (Appendix A) will apply except that each boat's series score shall be the sum of all her race scores.
8.2 One race will constitute a series.
9. Arbitration:
For protests involving the rules of RRS Part 2, an arbitration hearing may be held prior to the protest hearing.
10. Social:
Social activities will take place at Eastport YC. Each participating boat will receive tickets redeemable for drinks at Eastport YC's bar.
11. Prizes:
11.1 Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class.
11.2 An award will be made to the boat, which, in the opinion of the Organizing Authorities had the best overall performance at The CBYRA Mid Summer's Night Regatta
12.Photographers and TV Rights:
Competitors give absolute right and permission for any photographs or video footage taken of themselves or their competing boat to be published in any media whatsoever; for either editorial or advertising purposes, or to be used in press information.
13 Disclaimers:
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or
prior to, during, or after the regatta.
