HYC Fall Regatta

21 lasers showed up at the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay for Hampton
Yacht Club's Annual Fall Regatta on November 10th. Once again we were
treated with great conditions. 12-15 knots of breeze from the Southwest
and temps in the high 60s. The current was coming in from the East so we
had some nice waves to surf downwind. We had 5 races for the day. Henry
Amthor got off the gates with a bullet. He had consistent finishes in the
remaining races to finish in second.

Old Dominion University's Brad Funk proved too fast downwind winning four
races, and the regatta, after missing the first race. There was a 4-way
tie for second place. Henry Amthor won the tie-braker since he had
the first race bullet. The remaining three, ODU's Sally Barkow, Neil
Ford, and HYC's George Panayides had identical scores so Panayides ended
up third since he had the best result in the last race, followed by Ford
and Barkow.

After racing was finished most competitors gathered at Leigh Morgan's
house for a party. Two kegs, and plenty of food including 'Rappahanock
River' Oysters were on hand.

Special thanks to Ken Hidu and the remaining RC Volunteers as well as
Leigh Morgan for organizing the regatta and throwing the party
afterwords.
