FBYC Spring Series #1

The 1996 Chesapeake Bay Laser season opened at Fishing Bay YC, where their Spring Series #1 was held on Saturday, April 27th. Twelve Lasers made it to the start line in light to moderate winds for a five race series. Takao Shioya led the fleet most of the day, racking up several bullets; but a PMS in the first race dropped him to fourth overall. District Rep Mike Schmidt raced a consistent series with three seconds to edge out Eric Dennis for the series win. Although the YC was not "officially" open for the season, refreshments were served at the end of the day, with keeper trophies for the top four finishers. In addition, everyone was invited to a cook-out on Saturday night! - Mike Schmidt
