Five races on Saturday, Winds were 10-15, SE. A heavy geographic shift on the right side put an emphasis on good starts and boat speed. Taka Shioya was the only one to ever make the left work that day. Points were very close at the end of the first day within the top five. Mike Schmidt arrived late, fresh from a 10K, rumor has it his boat was towed out so he could swim the 1.5 miles to the race course. Three races on Sunday, winds were lighter and waves bigger. The right still had a shift, however, less predictable.

Better wind and following waves made the left workable. The second race proved to be entertaining for the RC when the front runners mistook the second weather mark for the finish. More embarrassing was the fact that we hung out for a few minutes only 30 feet from the crash boat to discuss the race completely unaware. Esquire Ted Morgan, enlightened us at the leeward mark as he raced on. His laughter could be heard all the way to the finish. - Eric Dennis
