The breeze was up for the second SSA event of 1997; winds were mostly in the 10-15kt range with a few light spots (which always seemed to appear on the downwind legs). It was a tough workout, especially those second windward legs that seemed to go on forever. District newcomer Andrew Jackson, sailing a new Laser, showed good boatspeed capturing 2 bullets to edge out Mike Schmidt for the regatta win. Bob Tan won the 2nd race, but a deep finish (caused by capsize?) in the first race left him in 3rd overall. - Mike Schmidt
