Summer Invitational

Conditions started off great for the Eastern Shore?s first Laser event of the season, with a solid 10-12kt breeze and warm temperatures as the fleet headed out. Unfortunately, the breeze faded out and temperatures kept rising all day. By the 3rd race we were begging for mercy while sweating it out in 1-5kts with temperatures in the upper 90?s. Jeremy Wilson had the hot hand, racking up 3 bullets on the day. The first race was a photo finish, with only inches separating him from second place finisher Mike Schmidt at the line. As the wind died, Jeremy showed excellent speed to stay out in front from start to finish. An added challenge was presented by the 420 fleet, which started before the Lasers, but in these conditions ended up in the middle of the Laser race by the jibe mark. - Mike Schmidt
