Indian Summer Regatta

- Fishing Bay YC
- Deltaville, VA
Seventeen Lasers with full rigs and two radials competed in the Indian Summer Regatta 11-12 October and were treated to five races on Saturday and two on Sunday. Races on the first day were sailed in 12-15 knots with George Panayides from Hampton YC edging out Andrew Jackson of Severn Sailing Association by one point at days end. Overnight the winds died down and after two races in marginal conditions the fleet decided to call it a day. George P finished as overall winner with Bob Tan catching up with Andrew Jackson to tie for second. Mike Schmidt, our District Secretary from West River Sailing Club ended up fourth with enough points to be the '97 District Champion. And George won the Travelling Trophy as a result of sailing all the events. -David Hazlehurst
