SSA Spring Series #2

It was classic Chesapeake Bay "variable" in every sense of the word. At first the RC planned to postpone, but then left the dock on time because the wind appeared to be more promising. We finally started the races a little after 11:30, but they abandoned the first race due to a 110 degree wind shift. We wound up racing just off of the Chesapeake Harbor beach. With the new windward mark so close to the beach, and gusts up to 12 to 15 knots (Eugenio's best guess) that sometimes arrived with a big shift, racing was a little tricky. We had about 10+ Lasers and shared the course with the Snipe fleet. The wind speed oscillated all day, along with direction, but the RC was able to get 3 good races in, including one more abandoned race. Brendan McAndrews had three bullets and Eugenio had a good day, too. - Jen Cook
