District 11 Championships

Over the June 23-24 weekend, 23 Lasers gathered at Rock Hall Yacht Club (Rock Hall, MD) for the District 11 Champs. RHYC is located on the upper northeast side of the Chesapeake Bay. On Saturday we were treated to 5 windward leeward courses, the first three of which were in a nice 15 knot southerly. As the day progressed, the breeze shifted to the west and lightened. Sunday saw the breeze drop out completely, and only 3 races were completed.

Master sailor Alden Shattuck (Severn Sailing Association; Annapolis, MD) dominated the 8 race regatta, finishing with 28.25 points. Alden was tuning up for the Worlds in Cork, Ireland at the end of this month. The top female was Apprentice Master Karen Long (SSA), who finished 7th overall.
