Mark Wheeler, sailing in the Hampton One Design class, won the Virginia Governor's Cup at this past weekend's regatta hosted by Ware River Yacht Club. Patrick Ryan, repeating as top junior, won the Laser class, and Walker Frost from Raleigh, North Carolina and Ware River YC, took home the Congressman's Cup for sportsmanship. Bob Marble reports that 265 sailors and "groupies" enjoyed the Saturday night social and dinner. Class winners: Albacore: Jasper Craig, Pasadena, MD, WRSC; Hampton One Design: Mark Wheeler, Virginia Beach, HYC;
Buccaneer: Thomas Sindle, Gloucester, WRYC; Mobjack: Len Guenther, Chesapeake, VA, BBSA; Moth: Mark Saunders, Seaford, VA, SSA; Laser: Patrick Ryan, Virginia Beach, HYC; PHRF: Steve Bowen, Hayes, YRYC.
