Capital City Regatta: DAY #2
March 19th, 2008

Sunday morning winds were strong, in the high teens when we left the dock around 11am. The course was in the same place as Sat, in the middle of the river just north of the power plant. About 13 of the 18 registered people made it for the first start. Winds built slowly as the day went on with winds gusting to upwards of 30MPH. A number of people dropped out through out the day, with only 6 people finishing all 4 races. I was told that at one point in the 4th race every single boat was capsized. Despite the wind we had a BBQ after racing both days.

Complete Results

Sam Dobbs took first in the Radial fleet. Erich Hesse took first place in the Full rig, Robert Bennett got 2nd and Dave Teale got his second 3rd place in 2 years for this regatta.

Bob Bear did a great job as PRO, thanks to Chris Bolton, Barney Harris, Kevin Cowley, Steve Parsons for also helping on RC and thanks to Erich for doing scores. A great 3rd year for doing this regatta, and a good way to (almost) finish off the season. Coming up we have the Spring Ice breaker regatta April 5th and the Laser/Byte Regatta May 10th is our last PRSA Laser event. If your interested in continuing to sail your laser in the "off" season, check out the District 11 Web site for regional events
