Sunshine Open Day 1
April 20th, 2008

The sun was shining at the Sunshine Open. We went went out today and after waiting for the wind to build we got one race in. The wind started around 8 knots for the first leg and slowly let out through the next 4 legs although never completely. The large starting line gave everyone a lane and the fleet got off cleanly on the first try. The persistent left-shift meant that that pin-end started who stayed to that side made out much better at the windward mark.

The next two marks were changed to square up the course to the new wind. From here the wind held a little more in place. With the left side of the course still favored because of the favorable current, there were still some passing lanes.

Only one race was sailed and Jon Deutsch finished first followed by Rodger Link and Chad Coberly. Kyle Swenson was the first Junior with a 5th place. Kin Couranz was first Radial and Karen Long was first Woman.
