District 11 Championship

This weekend we're having our annual District 11 Championship at Deep Creek Yacht Club. We've got a lot of great sailors already planning on being there. We'll have the best sailors from the Chesapeake Bay sailing against the best sailors from Deep Creek Lake.
Deep Creek sailor Joni Palmer won the Deep Creek Laser Invitational last year and will be tough beat on her home waters. The Bay sailors Luke, Ted, Kim, Karen, Jon, Scott, Dorian, Steve and the other 'off the lake' sailors will be giving the 'on the lake' sailors all they got. We'll even have some Ohio natives and Lake Erie sailors including Kevin Shockey the 2008 District 18 champion coming down to mix it up.
If you haven't already made your plans, it's not too late to come and we'd love to have you. Deep Creek does a great job with their Laser regattas and you'll definitely have a good time. BTW, if you haven't already pre-registered, bring something for dinner or plan to go out for dinner as the dinner for Saturday night has already sold out.

For those making your first trip to Deep Creek, here's a few things you should know:
-Bring warm clothes, it may be August, but it's still pretty cool up in the mountains. Think Annapolis in mid to late September.
-Camping is within walking distance of the club at two members who have volunteered their backyards for tents.
-For those arriving Friday night, find event chairman Sue Wolffe at the club house (before 9pm) and she'll direct you where to leave your boat and where to camp. If you arrive later (but not too late) you can call her cell at 703-980-8864.
