NOR Posted: Sunshine Open and US Singlehanded Championships Area C Elimination

The Notice of Race has been posted for the Sunshine Open and US Singlehanded Championships Area C Elimination. The event will be held at Severn Sailing Association on April 24-25, 2010.
The Sunshine is open to all sailors in Standard Rig and Radial rigs. Sailors from Area C who are US Sailing Members will be eligible to compete for the US Sailing Singlehanded Area C Elimination. The top man and top woman will represent Area C in the US Sailing Singlehanded Championship at Pensacola Yacht Club at the end of July.

NOTICE OF RACE – 2010 Sunshine Open and U.S. Singlehanded Championship Area C Elimination
April 24-25, 2010
1 RULES:
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) rules.
1.2 The Organizing Authority is Severn Sailing Association in conjunction with Laser Fleet 10.
2 LANGUAGE
2.1 The official language for this regatta will be English
3 FLEET ELIGIBILITY
3.1 All Standard rig Lasers and Radials are eligible race in the Sunshine Open
3.2 Competitors wishing to qualify to represent Area C in the U.S. Singlehanded Men's and Women's Championship on July 29-August 1 at Pensacola Yacht Club must be:
a) Members of U.S. Sailing; and
b) At least age 16 in the calendar year of age; and
d) Reside in, or regularly compete in BBYRA, CBYRA, MAYRA, NJYRA or DCYRA and not have participated in any other area singlehanded qualification event.
c) Competitors for the Men's Championship must be males and sailing in the standard rig fleet
d) Competitors for the Women's Championship must be females and sailing in the radial rig fleet
e) If no females compete in the radial fleet, then the top female will be selected from the standard rig fleet
4 RISK
4.1 Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Severn Sailing Association and Laser Fleet 10 will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
5 FEES
5.1 Required Fees
Checks should be made payable to “LASER FLEET 10”. The entry fee is $60 USD. FOR ENTRIES RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, APRIL 16, THE ENTRY FEE IS REDUCED TO $45 USD (EARLY REGISTRATION FEE).
5.2 Online registration is available at www.sailregattas.com
5.3 All payments must be in US dollars.
5.4 All early registrations must be received by Friday, April 16. Competitors may register early online at www.sailregattas.com or by completing the regatta entry form and sending it with the appropriate fees to: Laser Fleet 10, C/O Dorian Haldeman, 10 Ironstone Ct. Apt. F, Annapolis, MD 21403

5.5 The entry fee includes dinner and beverages after racing on Saturday and a commemorative prize.
6 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Saturday, April 24
0800-0930 Registration
0930 Skippers Meeting
1100 First warning signal, races to follow.
Dinner and beverages after racing are included in registration fee. Additional dinner tickets are available for $20 USD
Sunday, April 25
1100 1st warning signal, races to follow.
Awards to follow ASAP after last race.
6.2 No race to shall start after 1500 on Sunday.
7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
7.1The sailing instructions will be available during on-site registration.
8 SCORING
8.1 The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A2, will be used except as modified below.
8.2 There will be one discard when five or more races are completed.
9 AWARDS
9.1 Prizes will be awarded to:
Laser Fleet: First through Third Place
Radial Fleet: First through Third Place
9.2 The top male Standard Rig and female Radial (or standard if no eligible radials) will qualify for the U.S. Singlehanded Championships to be held in Pensacola, FL July 29 – August 1, 2010.
